Front Page Returns

[MadCast Tort]

I have been busy at work since "The Crash" trying to bring back our front page. I hope it is to your liking. Please keep in mind a couple of things: (1) This was an update not a revolution; (2) I tried to keep everything relatively the same. Please spend some time fooling around on the front page to see everything it offers now.

Also, I tried to code the site in dark and light at the same time. This was a huge bitch and generally unmanageable so now we have gone back to the default light. I made a lot of template edits that I did want to do twice. It is much easier to switch everyone to the light and then make a dark skin directly from this, now modified, version. Getting the darker version working is a top priority. I hope you guys like it, I put a lot of work into it.

It looks great, although some of the banners are different, and I've not decided whether this is different in a good way or not aesthetically. The layout is great, and it gives us alot of upfront information. (Also, I'm very glad I don't have to specifically type in the forum URL now to find us online, it was pain from school.) I look forward to getting the dark skin back, mainly because this skin at 6am with a 26 inch monitor, blinds the eyes. Thanks for all your efforts Tort! Keep up the good work!

The dark skin is back. I rushed to do it for those of you that claim possible retina damage otherwise Please note that it is pretty much skinned, but that there are a few areas that need to be tweaked (for example on the front page the forum tabs / welcome tabs need to be hardcoded and duplicated so that they dont look a lot brighter than the dark skin). I have set my default skin to be dark and I will be using the website in that mode until I find all the stuff spilled over from "light." Nevertheless, the average user (I can tell based on website logs) uses the forumdisplay, threadview, and postbit templates. All three have been updated.

I have a thread set up for constructive criticism. Like I told Steel in the original "Dark Skin" thread what you posted is pretty much useless to the improvement of the skin.

i would disagree, i am posting my views on the current color scheme and my preference towards the former, darker, color scheme. is it a detailed and in depth evaluation on the overall workmanship that went into the code, no. However, it is constructive as long as you choose to see it as such.
