House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, if you haven't read it, do it. It's a really unique book, but tends to require alot of intellect so that you're not confused. The book in a way resembles a puzzle, and even has alot of spoilers out on the web, to solve its many wonders.

I highly recommend that you do NOT look up anything about the book, because nearly everything is a spoiler. (I know this makes this difficult). You'll immediately know that the book is interesting if you pick up the full color version in any book store and flip through it.

Just to explain it a bit, the character starts to lose his mind in places, and the font goes backwards, upside down, diagonal, and mirrored. It always keeps you on your toes. Different colored fonts mean different things.

The Minotaur is just one example.

Ughh. There's a lot of books I hate in there. Slaughterhouse Five, though, I will happily discuss.

I don't really agree with the anti-Moby Dick sentiment actually. I thought the book was incredibly well-written, and although it's long and painful to get through, everything in it serves a purpose for the work as a whole. I hated reading it, but I thought it was worth it after understanding all the subtle language and criticism of religion/science Melville puts in.

Jane Austen is the worst author I have ever read, Pride and Prejudice was just awful, guess I would have to be feminine to understand it.

Slaughter-House V is one of my favorite books actually. Kurt Vonnegut is an exceptional writer, I hope you like it. Don't know if the Origin of Species is something you can just sit down and read thoroughly, and it's not really a timeless work, more meant for his generation, although it depends if you believe in his theories or not.

This is my opinion of Jane Eyre, the most loathsome book I was ever forced to read.

Bolded works are ones I've read previously. I really liked Slaughterhouse Five and War of the Worlds. Beloved is extremely well written but pretty sad.

If we are kicking this off again I was wondering if we could add this book the the list. http://www.amazon.com/Grimms-Complet...9379912&sr=8-1

It is a leather bound copy of the Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales. Bought it a while back and have not gotten around to reading it yet.

Also for the books on the list, can you list the ISBN number for the book?

so I just finished reading, Ready Player One, Prince was right it was very good. I know it was mentioned in another post but I do not remember who. I enjoyed it so much I am going to read it again after I finish the one I am currently reading which is Atlas Shrugged. Orgazmo you were right I am about 100 pages in and still kind of confused as to what is going on but I am intrigued and will continue to read it.

Edit: Mudvayne was the one who has posted regarding Ready Player One, thank you mud, it was a great read.

I have just added The War That Came Early by Harry Turtledove to my list to read after Atlas Shrugged. It sounds like an interesting series. Anybody read any of that series yet?
