MadCast Werewolf Vol. 9

Recommended Posts

Well, things are looking doubly grim for our heroes..

Is your bloodlust really so up that all you care about is a kill, Listerfiend, instead of figuring out the right person to kill?

If this is really what the rest of the town wants, then I guess that finally makes for a vote with reason. I don't quite know what will come out of this, so if you truly are a villager, 2Clueless, I apologize.

UNVOTE SLEIPHNER

VOTE 2CLUELESS

In case 2Clueless is indeed a villager, I want to point out that Khaos, Sleiphner, and Disma were the first three to vote for him.

UNVOTE Sleiphner

VOTE Knight

If I am going down, let my last vote be cast for someone I believe to be a wolf. Innocuous, low flying, clincher.

Knight observed the swing towards 2Clueless. It seemed his last ditch effort to point the blame everywhere at random wasn't working so well. The stones had decidedly shifted piles to encompass an almost unanimous vote. Watching 2Clueless argue with such abandon and to begin getting flustered had further convinced Knight of his guilt... the ploy of accusing every other person on his way to the noose was... desperate. If he was actually a villager though... then they were lost. Knight took a moment to consider the possibility that 2Clueless was actually a villager... he hesitated for a moment...

His vote would stand for now... but he would consider any cogent argument against voting for 2Clueless. So far it seemed 2Clueless' random accusations, misdirection and extremely flippant attitude was in-line with canine behaviour. He hoped they were right.

I will NOT go gently into that good night. I am not going to be melodramatic and childishly vote for myself to condone what what is being done right now. It is now a unanimous vote against me. That means, fellow villagers, there ARE three wolves in committed against me. You all know my suspicions. And besides, you are still stuck with me for a little while longer.

Sanjo - You swayed me with your words, now put some faith in me. Look at the behaviours, and make the right decision.

Khaos - You turned around Sanjo's vote, now do the same here. Look at your own notes and realize that there are better choices for the noose.

CindyLou, Listerfiend - I implore you, read what is being said and Khaos' notes, make up your own minds, add to the discussion, do not vote blindly. The only thing I have ever wanted to do in this village is hang wolves.

Stan, Sleiphner - You all protest your own innocence, and say you are not wolves? Then show it.

Disma - You came into this game under strange circumstances, and seem to have had a strange fixation on me. But I promise you, I am no wolf.

Knight - Is there anything else you can offer besides casually watching, knife sharpening, and careful inoffensive words? Because you and the village are NOT right about me being a wolf.

So you accused the people that were not originally voting for you of being wolves. and now you want us to change our minds?

It is going to be amazing if we pull this off.  Things could not have gone worse for the village.  Psychic hung early, doctor with no lucky saves, vigilante with two villager kills, zero wolves hung.

We will learn much tomorrow whether Clueless is a wolf or not.

For easy reference tomorrow the clueless vote order was:  Sleiphner, Disma, Khaos, Knight, Stan, Lister, Sanjo, Cindy

Who is the better choice Clueless?  Why?

Knight stood.

"The decision seems to be made, but I too would like clarification on your thought process, 2Clueless. I would still be willing to grant a stay of execution if for some reason you could actually justify your decisions."

He took a deep breath and walked up to 2Clueless, standing inches away, his face looking closely into 2Clueless' eyes, studying the pupils and trying to see into his soul.

"It only hurts our chances at actually destroying this evil by hanging yet another villager. If you truly are not a wolf, I implore you to please convince us... time is short."

Knight took a few steps back, giving the man room. He crossed his arms and looked to the others. Knight knew these were the final hours for a soul to save themselves... or for a wolf to tighten their own noose.

2Clueless would not simply accept his fate. He begged. He cajoled. He pleased. He cursed, he insulted, and threatened. He tried everything he could think of to convince his former friends that he was indeed genuine, and that he was not tainted with lycanthropy. Their faces were as stone. He made no headway, no matter what he said. These were the pleas of a desperate man... or a desperate wolf, if you believed as the townsfolk did. They would not budge. With emotionless visages, they marched to the tree and began to string 2Clueless up. He swore to them they were hanging an innocent man. They were beyond the reach of reason. One way or another, someone would die tonight in the hunt for the wolves. It was the way of the world. And it was the only choice they had.

As the noose squeezed the air out of his neck, 2Clueless choked once, and then breathed his last.

The sight of his human frame swaying side to side in the air would haunt the village all that night.

KILLED: 2Clueless

The mists swirled in the winter night. The chill swept through the bones of every villager in town. Each knew they could be next and that the village hung precariously on the edge of a blade. Another couple deaths and they would be overrun with wolves. There would not be enough for future hangings. There would be nothing but death. Oram watched and waited. The moment had almost arrived. He opened the grizzled book, turned to the next blank page, and began carefully sketching the outline of the villager he watched in front of him. This would be bloody and quick, he thought. Sure enough, he watched as the three wolves slid into view around the villager. As they pounced, he shook his head and finished his sketch.

As he held the sketch up in the moonlight, Sanjo's visage stared back at him. Nodding grimly, Oram closed the book with a firm clap and placed it back in his satchel. Another death would certainly follow. Oram would be there to record it. Though things looked grim, there was still hope.

KILLED: Sanjo

Knight tossed and turned in his sleep. It was all so real, the darkness looming. He was being chased in his dream, red eyes and slavering breath right behind him. It made no difference how hard he ran, which paths he took... they were always right on his heels. They pounced!...

Knight's eyes shot open and he sat straight up in his sweat-soaked sheets. He surveyed the room, taking in his surroundings. No wolves... none that he could see. He rolled out of the bed and went to the washbasin. The water was cold, freezing in fact. He washed his face and quickly washed the sweat from his body. He put on his armor, belted on his weapons and took a deep breath. It was time to face the day.

Knight made his way to the tavern, taking stock of the solemn looks from those who had survived the night. Things looked grim. Knight assumed they were wrong. He and the others had pegged 2Clueless for a wolf... and they'd been wrong. And someone else had fallen in the Knight. As he arrived in the tavern and saw the posting that Sanjo's life had been taken by wolves, he hung his head in respect and gave a moment of silence for the fallen comrade.

Those who remained... Listerfiend... Knight still had his suspicions but at this point couldn't deny Lister was in fact the Doctor... why hadn't the wolves gone for her though? Why hadn't she protected Sanjo last night?...

Stan, the unsuspecting farmer. He had followed the village in most of it's decisions but clearly was no leader. He had first followed Sotar. He had then sided with the town's decisions in almost all but had pleaded for sense and reason. Everyone he had stood behind was now fallen.

Khaos. Khaos was a voice of reason, his list of votes and thorough process had been nothing short of inspiring. The village had fallen in behind logic... but to our doom? With everything laid out so clearly... we still had not been able to pin down a wolf. Not a single one.

Sleiphner... an enigma. His thoughts and actions had been clever, well thought out, and his actions had been decisive. There was no denying though that two of the villagers clearly aligned against him early the day before were now dead. 2Clueless and Sanjo had both been removed from the equation.  Of Khaos' list of suspicious and trusted individuals... two of Sleiphner's suspicions had proven to be villagers, with only Stan left. Was Sleiphner a wolf leading us to kill his chosen targets?... If so he was a very very clever wolf.

Disma... sauntered into town late, provided some input but like the rest of us had missed the mark. He had been relatively quiet but Knight had a feeling, like many before him, that he could trust Disma. Maybe that would Knight's downfall.

And last... CindyLouWho... the cute and unassuming. Knight had seen the cute ones tear throats out before. The curse chose its victims without prejudice... and who better to sow terror than ones so innocent?

Knight knew not which path to take now. He knew only one thing. Today was their last chance. They hung a wolf today... or they all died with their guts torn out as the lycans bayed at the moon.

((Just letting you guys know quickly that I will be out of town all day tomorrow at a specialist's appointment a couple hours from where I live. I will have to cast my vote tonight or early in the am. Sorry if this causes any issues at such a crucial time :( ))

I saved Khaos last night thinking that the wolves would go after him with all the analyzing he's been doing the last couple days. If we hang someone tonight we HAVE to get a wolf... otherwise we are screwed.

Knight nodded at Lister. That made sense. If Knight were the doctor he would've saved either himself or Khaos as well. It was the smart play and Knight could now almost certainly confirm Lister as the town's physician. One of six cleared in his opinion. Knight breathed a sigh of relief, his decision made just a little easier. Knight went to the bar.

"I am sorry for my earlier suspicion of you. You've done your best for this town Doctor and I will do my best to save you."

Knight ordered a drink and after receiving went back to his table to continue his mental deliberations.

When I said that we have to hang a wolf tonight, I meant that we cannot count on the doctor miraculously buying us an extra night.  The wolves will kill me tonight because they now know I am not protected.  We must hang a wolf and the village must trudge on without me.

Here are our living villagers:

Lister

Khaos

Disma

Knight

Stan

Cindy

Sleiphner

I propose that all villagers agree to proxy their vote to Lister (agree to follow Lister's vote no matter what).  The village largely seems to have decided to trust Lister.  If that decision is wrong, then we are doomed.

In line with that, Lister I am giving you my proxy vote.  I will vote with you even if you vote for me.  You have a 3/6 chance here even if you just guess.

Lister, I want to bring that to a 3/5 chance.  It seems like you have some faith in me based on your action last night.  I appreciate that.  I am a villager.  I am not the vigilante or the psychic.  Just a villager.  Here is my case:

Sanjo's death last night should remove reasonable doubt.  Remember that I was the one that led the effort to save Sanjo from the noose and repeatedly argued against him being a wolf.  I could have just stayed quiet and let him hang.  If Sanjo had been hung, I could have just claimed that I was voting for Sotar, which is a pretty decent defense.  Instead, I rallied the village to save him.  This makes absolutely no sense if I am a wolf.  Additionally, at every turn I have asked people to put forward more reasoning behind their decisions, and have put forward the facts as best as I could.  This is the opposite of what the wolves would want.  Yes, I have made mistakes.  I thought that Scooba's blatant anti-village position, which contradicted his prior gameplay, pinned him as a wolf.  I was wrong.  I didn't trust your reasoning as the doctor.  I was wrong.

If you are willing to put faith in me, then you are now at a 3/5 chance to hang.  I will be happy to work with you to pin down a likely candidate out of the remaining five.  Alternatively, I will support you if you simply pick randomly.

It seems appropriate that the Doctor will save us.

Knight pondered the suggestion. It seemed a wise course. He put his faith wholly in Lister. No one else could really be trusted. Knight knew what he knew but unlike the others would not state he was a villager. Why say what people should already know? Actions always speak louder than words ever will. Knight knew if Lister chose him this night she would be making a mistake, perhaps their last... but he would trust her and would vote with her.

"I second my vote to Lister, let us rally behind the good doctor and finally make a stand. Too long have we let the wolves have their way, too long have we walked blindly into the dark. Lister... you have convinced me our your innocence in all this by your words and actions. Your choices fall in line with what I would have done and therefore there is no doubt in my mind."

Knight took a knee and unsheathed his sword. He delicately laid the blade across both palms and offered the blade up to Lister.

"Our lives are in your hands. Lead us not astray. Kill a wolf for us!"

((I should be back a little sooner than I had hoped tonight. My specialist appointment is a little earlier than I thought. Thank goodness for my wife! We were going to go for supper and see Deadpool tonight, hence the very late return... but it doesn't have an afternoon or even early evening showing so I should be back in time to cast a vote.))

I'm concerned that we haven't received any responses (besides Knight), if even a "Don't trust that wolf Khaos!"  We don't have much time left and need to hang someone.

Lister, what are you thinking?

Your choices:

Khaos

Knight

Stan

Cindy

Sleiphner

Disma
