Regarding the few members of the Butchers you have seen so far, they have been wearing masks.  Expertly designed and fitted masks, but still masks.  The few you have encountered have been identifiable as known humanoid races.

I know, but I figure they burn like any normal people do.

@MadCast: VoShay, did you procure something to give you Darkvision?

Leweyllen now has a character entry under your control for the purposes of light/vision.  Also, you should be able to set up attack macros if you wish.

Spontaneous Human Combustion seems to make it clear- if you could just set someone on fire, the wick effect should give off good light for quite some time.

You guys are fucking monsters.

I was talking with Flap last night, and he suggested the strategy of disguising Crow and Jenny as children and stealth murdering people.

Killing these PCs is borderline a public service.

Spooky Jack, reporting for service.

Hey now, I didn't even mention Jenny. Crow can disguise self at will; even if Jenny had something like that, it'd probably be a bad idea for many reasons.

You make and abuse any advantage you can in the Hive and Lower Wards. Otherwise someone more clever and ruthless will have you boxed or worse.

Just sayin, if the party goes too dark, Stacks is gonna be lookin for a way out.

Amoral rationalistic Wizard? Sure, gotta get your hands dirty sometimes. Psycho murder sprees, forsaking all responsibilities and allies, and reinforcing abusive drug rings that prey on the weak? He can find reassignment from Duncan.

Recapping the events of last night:

1. About 3 steps into the sewers, the Gang discovered The Warrens. A crew of were-people populates the opening territory of the sewers, and surrounded the party, forcing a retreat. After mentioning that we had un-friendly business with The Shankers, The Warrens agreed to escort us out (re: not devour us alive) and direct us to Shanker territory.

2. Upon stepping into shanker territory, the party disrupted a routine arms deal between the Shankers and the Warrens.

3. We left 2 survivors. Robert Roker, a lower level Shanker recruit, informed us of the recent takeover by Dr. Faustus, one reportedly scary motherfucker. He said he wanted out, so Stacks gave him a magically-disguised promissory note for safe haven with the Acquisitor's Guild. Domo, a member of the Warrens, told us of the recent takeover of the Warrens. 'Dead Steel' was mentioned. Domo agreed to return to the Warrens, keep his head down, and lend us a helping hand when the time comes. Primarily in the form of information, but it's possible Domo could be our foot in the door for a tenuous alliance with the Warrens.

4. Upon investigating the sewers in Shanker Territory, the party encountered a mysterious doorway marked by a scarab with a fake jewel that acted as a button. We didn't have the password to get into...wherever that was. After further exploration, and combat with a couple Shanker Enforcers, we found a secret door. Behind said door, (which Breeze mightily tore open) was a large force of Shankers, and the terrible Dr. Faustus. After Jenny was KO'd and Stacks' fireworks were counterspelled, the party beat a hasty retreat to lick their wounds.

Takeaway: So far, we've impressed the locals as newcomers on the scene. However, the vast majority of the populace in the Gutter is absolutely terrified of the new movers/shakers in the Gutter. The party aims to destabilize the Shanker leadership and takeover operations, and run a cleaner and leaner organization while maintaining a secret alliance with the Butchers and the Warrens. In order to accomplish this, however, we'll need to gather our strength and prove that we're not just all talk...

One quick edit to that Rife.  The Warrens were actually a fair bit of distance down the main entrance, I just didn't map it out.

Also, that Scarab was basically a buzzer that linked to the Shanker HQ.  When you didn't respond, they sent out an investigatory group, which you quickly annihilated.  That's when the mob proper burst out of both the main entrance as well as, presumably, at least one hidden path.

You also learned that the Warren was stick-and-carrot forced into running arms to the Shankers by an individual who matched Rekon's description.
