I know this is a common sentiment, but personally, if i didn't hold on to that hope/impression, i might be dangerously apathetic. if that makes me naive, so be it.
i may not be very vocal when it comes to politics, but at least i'm listening, learning, and making a (small) difference.

I think I prefer Marvel for superheroes and DC for villains, as a general rule. There are some exceptions, for I really, really hate Cap. America and Magneto is an awesome villain, but I think overall Marvel superheroes are more interesting and DC villains are just better thought out and more fun to hate.

Been doing a research paper for the last two days and I realized that I need one very awesome, chill song on repeat to really get into good essay writing. I love this dude's voice, and have been listening to this song for a total of like 8 hours now and I'm not even close to fed up with it.

Tell me Loki my lad, do you put pineapple in a Greek salad?
A good Greek Salad is composed of a sound, simple dressing, Cucumber, olives, Tomatoes, and onions.
Cucumbers, olives and Tomatoes are technically fruits, yes, but to quote Miles Kington, "Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad."
Shall I now put tomatoes, cucumbers and olives in a fruit salad with other things such as strawberries, melon and blueberries?

I'm glad to see you've opened the floor for this discussion, double! Coming from another country that definitely has a lot further to go than the US, it always seems to me that the LGBTQ+ community here in the States is very lucky, and have it a lot easier than in other places, which quickly turns my brain into a "what are they complaining about?" train of thought. It's not fair, since that sort of mentality is not constructive at all, but it's a question nonetheless and reading your posts kind of answers my questions. Also, what happens in the U.S definitely shapes what happens in my country 5,10 or 20 years later, so the battles being fought here will most certainly ripple into Chile in the future.
I was having a discussion with my boyfriend about a question that came to mind, and I'd like to ask it here since I'm sure you understand LGBTQ+ culture a lot more than me. Keep in mind I don't judge either way, I'm just genuinely curious about this. In order to realize, decide, or come to the conclusion (Whichever verb or action applies, I'm not really sure) that you are bisexual, do you have to have had a relationship with both genders? The question came up because a female friend of mine posted a buch of things about being bi after saying she was just an ally of the LGBTQ+ community for years, and having only had romantic relationships with guys. Now, even though it's not always the case, I'm sure there are people that make these claims online (And never in person) just to get some attention. I'm not sure if this is the case here or not, but the whole situation got me wondering whether you can actually know for sure without having ever lived through it.
Personally, my kind of open but not really savvy on the subject brain went no way, you need to have empirical evidence of having kissed a girl AND a boy in order to affirm that you are bi. And then I thought about it more, and decided that in order to determine, or come to the conclusion that you are, for example, a man who isn't comfortable in his body, because you should have been a woman, you haven't really been a woman and yet I am comfortable with agreeing that in that case you're transgender. So I have no idea, and I'm not even sure it's important or not when you're determining your sexuality. Maybe just the feeling that there could be sexual attraction to both is enough? No clue.
What's your experience, or thoughts, about this?

I ate only half a Tombstone pizza last night instead of a full one, now if only I could motivate myself to actively work that half off...

All jokes aside, as quite a few people know, I'm a cook and I just transitioned to a new job a couple weeks ago and I've had some long days and nights, and I'm just glad that I found somewhere that is mildly stress free and the people I work with are way cooler than what I'm normally used to.  DSO and I had talked about this before, and it makes a huge difference, so I'm happy today to enjoy my three days off because I'm not dreading going back to work after the three days are over....

I am 24 years old and have been active duty in the Air Force for 6 1/2 years. I have never once voted and here’s why. I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils. No candidates I fully support have made it far enough for me to vote for. Example in the last presidential election I supported Dr. Ben Carson, has he made it all the way I would have voted and voted for him. Since he didn’t and I did not fully support either candidate I did not vote. I 100% believe voting or choosing not to vote is your individual right not a responsibility but I also agree with the philosophy of if you don’t vote you don’t get to bitch about the officials in office.

Just got my math final exam back and it's 100%! Passed that class with a 99.3%, and math has always been my worst subject, so I'm extremely proud of this! Also, I'm probably keeping my 4.0 this semester, too. The stress was all worth it!
What have you guys been up to lately? I want to read some small or large victories that deserve recognition!!!!

A hot dog is a hot dog, it is not a sandwhich.  You do not call cereal soup simply because you eat it in a bowl with a liquid "base" akin to a broth of soup.  Stop trying to demean hot dogs and group them in with food that is less than a hot dog.
You do not ask for a sandwhich, and then if somebody asks what kind, your answer would not be, give me a tube shaped meat in one piece of bread.  You would ask for a hot dog.

I went on a date for the first time in forever today, with a beautiful man. We ended up just laying in the grass staring at the clouds in the park for hours and just talking. There wasn't any sexual connotation behind it, or aggressive behavior towards that like most men that I've interacted with lately have been. It was just serene, and so easy to open up to him, and him opening up to me. Unfortunately he had to go down to Colorado Springs for the weekend for work, but we had a wonderful time and are planning on getting together again soon, and I'm super excited. It's really hard to get second dates for me, and after how much I've been working lately, and how stressed I've been, today was exactly what I needed.

I grew up with a lot of encouraging from both my parents, but they also held me to a very high standard. Big victories were celebrated, with a lot more focus on academic things than anything else, and this is the thing I normally revert to if I don't pay close attention to my mental health. But academic or economic success isn't everything, especially if you have a shaky mental health situation, and celebrating small victories sometimes can be life saving, at least in the long run.
So, with this in mind, I thought it would be cool to start a thread where we can share our big or small victories of any kind, with the idea of having a reminder to do it whenever we can, celebrating each other's advances, and also a place where we can come back on a rainy day and remember that one day months ago where you were proud of an accomplishment. Don't be shy, it's really important to be able to give yourself credit where it's due.

I'll get the ball rolling with a couple of things I could think of today. The first one is that somehow I am passing two of my classes with over 100%, and considering I normally do worse on second semesters I'm actually very proud of this.
The second one is that yesterday I managed to call both of my parents, which has been a big challenge since I moved away because it reminds me that I'm not there. It's good for me though, because I miss them and the more time I go without calling them makes me feel awfully guilty and increasingly alone, so I'm very happy that I pushed myself to do it.
